Seeds of Health’s Veritas High School Teacher Joe Neman selected for participation in the 2017-2018 Teachers for Global Classrooms (TGC) Program
MILWAUKEE (Nov. 7, 2017) – Seeds of Health, Inc. is proud to announce that Veritas High School Teacher Joe Neman has been selected for participation in the 2017-2018 Teachers for Global Classrooms (TGC) Program.
The Teachers for Global Classrooms Program (TGC) is a year-long, highly competitive professional development program for U.S. elementary, middle, and high school teachers to become leaders in global education. Global education is integral to building 21st century skills in students, and teachers are the greatest resource to empower students as global citizens. The TGC program equips teachers to bring an international perspective to their schools through targeted training, experience abroad, and global collaboration. The TGC program is funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), and implemented by IREX, an international non-profit organization.
76 teachers were selected as TGC fellows in the 2017-2018 program year. The fellows teach in 31 different states and in a Department of Defense school abroad, and teach various disciplines. More than 50% of the 76 TGC fellows teach in high needs schools. There are 16 elementary school teachers and 60 secondary school teachers.
The TGC program starts with a 10-week online professional development course. Once completed, fellows and an administrator from their school will be invited to participate in a Global Education Symposium in Washington, D.C., where they will collaborate with teachers, administrators and education leaders from across the United States in a two-day conference on Global Education. Following the Symposium, TGC Fellows will travel with other U.S. teachers for an international field experience and have the opportunity to meet with school teachers and educational leaders in a participating host country.

Neman teaches 10th grade World Literature at Veritas High School and has been with the organization since 2008. He earned his bachelor’s degree in English - Secondary Education from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
